time has passed (hermit_210401231458.log)
Apr. 1st, 2021 11:14 pmMarch saw my one year anniversary since delurking and posting my first fic. I meant to make posts (or maybe just one) in celebration but didn't find the energy nor the words for it.
...I'm still lacking in words. Wow, it's been a long time! I definitely didn't expect to be here right now. I'm happy that I am. I can't properly express it because *gestures vaguely* but oh well, it's been a tiring year (and also a tiring first quarter of this year, oof).
So I don't actually have much to say. There are three shows I want to squee about but can't find the coherency for. So for now, I'll just list some things that made me happy last month.
I started playing Final Fantasy XIV Online, which is an MMO. I don't really do MMOs but I felt a need to stay in another world for a bit.A world that wouldn't end in five hours like my February replay of Transistor. So, I've been running around Eorzea doing quests. It's enjoyable and I hit level 50 (out of 80) yesterday. But I'm playing the free trial, which caps at level 60, so I guess I'll need to buy the game (or level other classes). I started as an Arcanist, because that class uses pets. I don't have a very good recent screenshot of my character but here's an older one:

Okay, what else? I watched WandaVision, loved it, became inspired, I have a new weilan WIP thanks to that. Brilliant! *cries on top of WIPs mountain*
I also fell hard for Orlando Bloom which is completely random and unprecedented but also fun. I've been watching his works and that's been an absolute delight. (It all began with a Legolas meme but I'll talk about him later.)
I started with his appearance in Midsomer Murders—he's only in one episode (S3E3)—and that was a strangely nostalgic experience for me. I used to watch Midsomer Murders with my mom when I was a kid and we had great fun. I missed John Nettles.
After that, I watched Carnival Row, which is a wonderful fantasy show with fascinating world-building that I really want to squee properly about, so I won't say more.
I rewatched the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies and I've got some thoughts about them. Mainly, "wow I don't remember Will Turner being this interesting" and "holy shit, the first movie is really good!!" Seriously, The Curse of the Black Pearl is a really nice self-contained movie with good character arcs for everyone and a story that actually ends at the end of the movie. The next two are, hm, less good but I don't want to get into that. The interesting thing, for me, here is that this is the first time I've wanted to read gen fic (I ship Will/Elizabeth but don't really want to read about them). Jack & Will is a beautiful friendship, though, and I really want to explore that.
So yeah, in addition to all this, I now have an interest in Legolas (which grew into an interest in Legolas/Gimli) despite never having seen nor read The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings. So...that's a new experience for me too. I've been reading fic and half the time I have no idea what's going on or who's who but it's surprisingly nice.
Okay, one last thing. I started this Big Tiddy Kunlun in March thanks to a conversation/not!fic with
ratbones. He's far from finished but...maybe it's about time I posted some art.

Yes, I couldn't resist putting my name on his tiddy. Forgive me, Kunlun! Forgive me, Shen Wei! ;(
