year in fandom meme 2022
Jan. 1st, 2023 08:23 pmThis meme has been around for a while, and it looked fun to do but I realized I didn't have answers to some questions, so I switched it up a bit. Also, I'm a day late. :D
1. Your main fandom of the year?
Ace Attorney (and I'm also counting The Great Ace Attorney in that). I finished TGAA shortly after the year began and was absolutely smitten with everyone in it (except Kazuma 😒). My ships were pretty much only narumitsu and baroryuu.
2. Your favorite film watched this year?
I didn't watch that many movies this year, so there isn't much choice... It's hard to pick between The Batman (2022) and Tenet (2020). So I guess I'll go with those two.
3. Your favorite book read this year?
It's kind of embarrassing but I didn't finish reading any books this year. (This is why I want to do Mount TBR.) I've been finding it really hard to focus and read with my own eyes. I tried audiobooks and text-to-speech and those have helped. I've been listening to an audiobook of The Count of Monte Cristo and I'm loving it a lot. It's just sooo long.
4. Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
According to Spotify, my top song is Albert Harebraine's theme from The Great Ace Attorney OST. Then there are a few more songs from the same OST and the first song with lyrics is Billie Eilish's Billie Bossa Nova.
5. Your favorite TV show of the year?
Only Murders in the Building. It's a murder mystery/comedy set in modern New York with three lead characters. I loved the setup of the mysteries (one for each season) and the investigations were so much fun. I'm eagerly waiting for season three.
6. Your favorite community of the year?
I didn't participate in many communities this year. I got very into![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
iconthat in December and that's been a ton of fun. I'm happy to be making icons again :D
7. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Maybe Batman (in general)? Or Tenet, I have some very strong fannish feelings for it. (Not counting The Great Ace Attorney because I was well into that in 2021 too :D).
8. Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Without giving spoilers, the moment when Barok van Zieks decided to trust Ryuunosuke Naruhodou.
9. Favorite character of the year?
Phoenix Wright...Tied with Miles Edgeworth and Barok van Zieks.
10. The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
In a way, Batman. Or rather, SuperBat, the Clark Kent/Bruce Wayne ship. I managed to read a few fics and I liked them but I know so little about the characters and the world that I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of details. (Also, there are so many related characters that get mentioned and I know nothing about them.)
12. Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
Off the top of my mind, I'm looking forward to Nolan's Oppenheimer, and Don't Feed the Monkeys 2099. I'd also love to see Telltale Games' The Wolf Among Us 2 and their third season of Batman, but I'm not sure if those will be released soon at all.
